UK Trips in the 1983!!

Interesting aircraft from trips around the UK in 1983!

Newcastle 7th January

Newcastle 29th May

Sunderland (Usworth) 05th June

Don't know why this Air Atlantique Douglas C-47 Dakota G-AMRA was at Sunderland at the time of my visit, but it still wore the colours of ex operator Eastern Airlines!  It still operates with Air Atlantique today "2009" and until the middle of 2008 did pleasure flights. Anyway a couple of years later Sunderland Airport was bought by Nissan and dug up!!  The only parts that remain are the museum and part of a hanger!!

Newcastle 5th June

Edinburgh 16th July  First ever visit to Edinburgh produced a couple things of interest in the shape of Inter City Airlines Viscount 708 G-ARIR and Manx Airlines Fokker FK27-Friendship 100 G-IOMA!  Unfortunately both aircraft don't grace our skies anymore with G-ARIR Viscount being sold to Janes Aviation in Dec 83, Who then sold it to MMM Aero Services of Zaire as 9Q-CAH Nov 1984, It then got as far as Ostend on its delivery flight where it was stored for four years before being broken up!!!!   While G-IOMA FK27 continued to operate for Manx/BMA and Loganair until April 1986 when it was sold, eventually going to German Carrier WDL in May 87 as D-BAKO. It passed hands to Swetrail AB where it ended its days as a fire trainer at Vasteras Airport Sweden in April 1996!
